Hello!

I’m Caroline, a recently graduated interior designer and one of the new faces of Urban Grain….  It’s a pleasure to be writing about the first project I was given shortly after joining the company in June. This was a great chance for me to get my skills established within the organisation and give me some vital experience working on a professional project from start to finish. We do a lot of computer aided design here at Urban Grain so Carla decided that this would be a lovely opportunity for me to design using my hand drawing skills to help communicate with the client as the project evolved.

Our overseas clients are always offered multiple skype meetings and we love meeting them this way if we can’t meet them in person…

I really enjoyed how the project grew and evolved over the months… once we had the first set of visuals together it was a group effort developing the design… we shared ideas through pinterest, houzz and email…

The main aim of this project was to create a beautiful piece of furniture that matched their very specific requirements and measurements. I worked with the dimensions of their media equipment and guitar to create a shelving system which was aesthetically pleasing, unique and functional, complete with a desk.
We were all really keen on the idea of having a non symmetrical style for the shelving, similar to some of our past projects. From the very start of the design process I kept this in mind… the visuals below give a sense of how the design process progressed (from the clients initial sketch to the final digital artwork)…

Our clients, Pierre and Aurelie, were so pleased with the final result they sent us these stunning photos…
